A LETTER TO OUR CLIENTS, continued...

My parents are in their 80s and have worked hard to be independent through all the complications and hiccups that ageing has thrown their way. My father’s Alzheimer’s and post-polio weaknesses have progressed to being a bit more than my mother can safely handle alone. I talked it over with Becky and Crystal and my folks, and I plan to be nearly 100% in northern Wisconsin with my parents until they return to their home in Vermont in October. Wisconsin is the place they love to be but it is secluded. I have chosen to make this time here not only possible but safe and maybe even worry-free for them. Life is too short to not take the time to make this work for them…. after all they’ve done for me.

And that leaves our clients in a predicament. Since opening in 2005, we attempted to warn new clients that we were not a full service clinic. Most of our clients have accepted this and continued to work within our kind of crazy parameters and limited hours. I hope you know we are very appreciative of that support. Every single day, I remember that there are plenty of clinics that are a lot more convenient for you. Becky, Crystal and I all work hard to deserve your loyalty and trust. Nevertheless, until late October, I will only be in Burlington for a few short days. We are hiring a relief vet to take some appointments at the clinic and we hope that Crystal will be available one afternoon a week to do “tech” appointments. Both Becky and Crystal will be managing the phones, making referrals, and getting drug refills authorized (by me) and refilled for you. (You can also sign up for most refills at our on-line pharmacy.) (Click Here for the Pharmacy)

And, for anyone who just does not want the fuss or the wait, we will compile your pet’s medical records for you and get them to any full service clinic you choose. I understand the desire to have a vet more available than I am. We’ll work with you to make the transition. And remember, in some cases, we also share clients. Some folks basically have two vets: us and one of the full service clinics in town. We all work well together. And, Orchard Veterinary Hospital is often available to take our overflow so feel free to contact them. (Orchard Veterinary Hospital)

Again, I cannot say enough that we are grateful for the support we receive from our clients and we hope to continue all those great relationships.

Thank you.

Susan McMillan, DVM
