1000th Client

The Old North End Veterinary Clinic is a small veterinary clinic opened in November, 2006 to support the residents and pets in downtown Burlington. We are in the heart of the Burlington Renewal Community. Our goal is to help all pet owners access basic veterinary care. Our clinic provides basic services, medicine, vaccines, examinations, consultations, and end of life care. Our appointments are 30 minutes long so there is time for discussion and to have any questions answered. Most lab work, surgery, and procedures must be performed at the two full service clinics we work with or are referred to another vet.

We are usually in the clinic on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Our mobile practice takes us out on the road a lot so we recommend that clients always call before coming in. We are not always staffed during common business hours so if you just stop by, we may be closed.

Patients requiring critical care and diagnostics are referred to Orchard Veterinary Hospital at 1333 Shelburne Road, South Burlington or to another appropriate veterinary clinic. We perform surgeries at Orchard Veterinary Hospital and we work closely with Orchard VH and Green Mountain Animal Hospital for our lab work and diagnostics.

Our opening was a group effort. To make our services as accessible as possible, we kept start-up costs very low. Whenever possible we purchased from Recycle North and the Salvation Army. We used Local Color recycled paint throughout the entire clinic. Our exam light and scale are refurbished. Several friends helped with painting, floor deconstruction, passing out flyers around the neighborhood, creating our new logo, and warming up the clinic with flowers and plants.

To give you an idea of how we put the clinic together, here is a list of some of the organizations that helped out:
Fletcher Allen Health Care: a safe, and tables and chairs for the waiting room.
UVM: a lab table (converted to exam table), and two filing cabinets.
RE/MAX Condo Guy: a desk.
Pinnacle Properties: pre-opening clean up of our sidewalk area and parking lot.
Champlain Housing Trust: a very affordable lease.

Financial Policy:
We strive to offer basic medical care to all dogs, cats and a few pocket pets. Our overhead is very low and we pass those savings on to our clients. To keep costs low, we work on a cash only basis. All clients must work with us to pay cash in full for all services at the time services are offered. We will gladly give an estimate upon request. We do not offer discounted or sliding scale pricing to individuals. We offer the lowest possible prices to every client and we expect every client to pay for the care of their pets. Clients who fail to respect this policy will be refused service in spite of our desire to help all pets in need.
